As a Realtor I work so closely with the community. By showing houses I see many different neighbourhoods and homes. It is very important for me to give back to my community. Waterloo Region and Wilmot Township have many non-profit organizations. I wanted to list a few that I have a personal relationship with and that continue to supporting. Some of these organizations I have volunteered for or donated to in the past and continue to do so to this day.
Carizon: A children and family services organization providing resources for children, youth, families and couples. Carizon helps support them through the hard times and achieve wellness. https://www.carizon.ca/about-us/
I have been volunteering for Carizon off and on over the years. What they do is amazing and necessary and helps support a happy and healthy community.
Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors (KWAR): KWAR helps support and promote Realtors in serving the needs of our community. They also provide education to help our Realtors stay up-to-date in guidelines and regulations. This helps ensure the safety of our clients. https://kwar.ca/
This is my third year of volunteering for KWAR. I started volunteering my second year in real estate so that I could learn more to help better serve my clients. It is rewarding to be involved in the wonderful initiatives that KWAR does for the community.
The Food Bank: 1 in 20 households in Waterloo Region need help with food. The Food Bank is an amazing support to the region. According to their website, 34,552 people were helped by the community Food Assistance Network of Waterloo Region last year. https://www.thefoodbank.ca/
So many people in our community don’t have enough food, and that is not okay. The Food Bank is hands-on, really helping people get to the next day. The support they provide for our community is so helpful. I know people who have used The Food Bank and they still have such an appreciation for it.
Canadian Blood Services: The goal of Canadian Blood Services is to provide lifesaving blood, plasma, stem cells, and organs and tissues to those who need it, to save lives. In a 1 hr 10 min appointment you can help save the life of someone too. https://blood.ca/en
When I give blood I feel like a super hero! I started giving blood in high school and haven’t stopped since. It is something that I can do to help people. Knowing people who have actually received transfusions makes it even more meaningful. The snacks afterwards are pretty great too.
These organizations, and many others, do amazing things for our community. I am proud to continue supporting them. I hope that, in reading this, you have been inspired to pass it forward to and help in any way you can.
